personalized, handcrafted ceremonies to honour a life well-lived

At Crossroads Ceremonies, I work with you to create sincere, one-of-a-kind funerals, memorials, living funerals, and celebrations of life that truly share the story of the person you love.

Each ceremony is unique, written from scratch to individually honour the life being celebrated. Just as every life is extraordinary in its own way, no two ceremonies are the same.

The ancient art of ceremony, practiced in traditional and contemporary ways, can help us navigate the crossroads of life and death, making space along the way for grief and celebration, laughter and tears, and the fullness of the human experience of loss. Welcome! I’m Rebecca. I’m honoured to meet you here at the crossroads, no matter what brought you here.

For most of my life, I’ve been drawn toward the places where the ordinary and the non-ordinary intersect: the moments in our lives that allow us to connect our own individual stories with the big stories shared by people across time, space, cultures, and traditions. This pull toward these crossroads places is what inspired me to create Crossroads Ceremonies.

I am a funeral officiant and a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®, trained by the Celebrant Foundation and Institute, the preeminent global institute training ceremony professionals. I’m also a professional singer, another arena in which I seek to create a container for people to find connection, healing, and rejuvenation - and one that has brought me into a great many funerals, weddings, christenings, and other ceremonies! My call toward the crossroads has also led me to volunteer with the Philip Aziz Centre of Toronto, a community hospice organization that connects thoroughly trained volunteers with those in our community living with life-limiting illnesses. The clients who I have been privileged to meet and walk alongside for this final portion of their journey on Earth have taught me more than I can begin to describe.

If you think I might be the right person to create your ceremony, please reach out for a no-obligation conversation about what you are seeking and how I might be able to help.

Location

Crossroads Ceremonies is located in Toronto, Ontario, also known as Tkaronto. The land that holds this city is, and has been for millennia, home to many diverse First Nations and Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis peoples, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.

The land teaches us about the cycles of birth, death, decay, and rebirth. I’m grateful for the opportunity to live in and learn from this land.

While most of my work is within Toronto and its immediate surrounding areas, I am always happy to talk about ways that we might work together even if I’m not able to be physically present to perform your ceremony. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch from wherever you may be located.
